Kidnap Music Review
From a thriller like this you cannot expect a great soundtrack because the songs are usually supposed to take a back seat to the film itself. But considering it’s a Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan (most promising newcomer) movie with music by the “great” Pritam, you cannot help but wish that there will be atleast a couple chartbusters. Unfortunately there are none…
Mit Jaaye (Sandeep Vyas) - The opening rock-n-roll track actually has music by Sandeep Vyas and not Pritam. It is a song which I would not like to listen to on my mp3 or car stereo but should fit in well in the movie, especially if it is played in the background.
Hey Ya (Suzy Q) - From the second it begins, this track has Pritam written all over it. Actually it is basically a milkshake of songs he has made (or copied) the last couple of years, with nothing new being offered. Despite its attempts to be peppy, the song is boring and stale and gives off a heard-before feeling to the listener!
Mausam (Shreya) - Now thats the Pritam we all have come to know and love! There can be no album in which Pritam does not lift someone else’s song and in this case the song has been copied from Pakistani pop singer Haroon’s Mehbooba. The song makes for a decent couple hears.
Haan Ji (Adnan Sami) - This goofy song sounds like something from Adnan Sami’s last album, Teri Yaad. It is a corny song and you have to wonder why would they would have this type of song in this film?
Meri Ek Ada Shola (Sunidhi Chauhan, Sukhwinder Singh) - When listening to this I was constantly reminded of many songs, one of which was Kaali Nagin Ke Jaisi from Mann. It is a fairly catchy item number and is worth a few listens due to the great chemistry between Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan.
